Lancaster ISD audit raises questions
As usual the puppeteer (Lewis) is controlling the strings on the majority of our beloved school board members. The most controlled puppet seems to be our board president. I think his head has overgrown since being elected. I think at the next board meeting someone needs to check and make sure all the strings are connected securly to those members that can not question or try to get answers they know that the public wants to know. I agree estherspeaks, we are on the road to becoming the next WH. Board members if you want to be puppets, then you need to be puppets for the taxpayer and their money.
PS. How does a Good Kid featured in the DMN live in Desoto and attend Lancaster HS. and play volleyball????

Lancaster ISD "State of the School District" speech
Is the district buying (bribing) by supposedly ordering subscriptions to help the great "Comeback" of Lancaster Today. Will they only print what Lewis approves first? It should be very interesting.....Can't wait for my October 18th newspaper, hot off the press! Someone needs to ask some of our gifted students what they are doing as far as being so gifted. You might be suprised by their answers.

TEA to audit Lancaster ISD
The time has come and maybe now the majority of our Board members will wake up. The taxpayers have spoken and finally have been heard by TEA. Good luck LISD and hopefully you have the spare books hidden away so no one will ever find them.

Nine million dollar oops in Lancaster ISD budget
Letslearn, where in the heck do you think Dr. Lewis can go and make the money he does, have his and his wifes insurance payments made in full each month, get a district computer set up in his home (so he can spend time reading about himself), take off for "take care of yourself day(s)", and not get docked for it, which means MORE MONEY in his pocket when he retires or leaves, trips all over the country for IB training, trips with grant money, (Hilton Head, SC), and no telling where else. I say again, who in heck would be willing to leave???

UPDATED: Garland and Lancaster ISDs come up "substandard" in Financial Integrity Ratings
Well, It looks like Dr. Lewis did not hold the administration accountable for the money he spends on them. It looks like he overlooked them when coming up with his ratios and numbers to make sure each campus was not overstaffed. I guess when you work for the "President" of superintendents and you are part of his "Cabinet" rules and regulations that he brings in, makes up or whatever he decides does not affect administrators of LISD. So again, IT IS NOT ABOUT THE STUDENTS OF LISD, it is about his POWER he has over most of the Board and district. As long as the board continues to let him be unaccoutable for what he has done,he is doing, and he continues to do, the STUDENTS snd STAFF at all campuses will continue to suffer his rath. Campuses will still continue to do without needed supplies, fixtures and furniture. LISD will continue to have overcrowded classrooms at the secondary levels, just so Dr. Lewis can keep heaping on the administrators until hopefully he finds the right person or persons, to fix the mistakes that continue to plague LISD.

Lancaster vote on budget, tax rate postponed until Aug. 21
We had students sent to JJAEP for sure. If I am not mistaken, several staff members at the high school were assulted by students last year. Hopefully the district will not fabricate the report to TEA on this matter. If I was a gambling person, I would bet fabrication runs high in this district. But you know, there are people in the world who lie, cheat, and steal so much, they begin to believe that it is not wrong and continue to do it as if it was second nature. Hopefully those in LISD that are doing this will find themselves in new living quarters with bars on the windows.

Interested citizen, if you do email board members do not be suprised when they do not acknowledge your email. I beleive atleast 4 of the members have their heads in the sand and believe Dr. Lewis knows what he is doing and can do know wrong. I think the public needs to request that an outside audit be done, so that if no wrong doing is going on, they can give taxpayers a peace of mind.

Beleaguered Lancaster School District takes another blow
Well Sheila in Lancaster, maybe administrators could take less airplane trips riding in first class, stay in cheaper hotels, eat at less expensive restaurants, etc. and have more money for students to go on field trips with rented buses. Most field trips are either paid by the PTA and or students bring a certain amount of money for the trip to cover expenses. Learning starts in the classroom, not on a rented bus. If I am not mistaken the district owns several buses already and was suppose to order several more with the left over BOND MONEY of 2004. So I just really do not think we are using alot of rented buses for field trips. So again I say, what would passing a new bond have to do with LISD getting raises? Instead of having so many elections trying to pass a new bond package, put that money aside for future raises....

Board members better listen to what Dr. Lewis is saying. I beleive he has gone from 18 to 15 and now down to 12 for for sure money for the prosposed budget. The budget keeps getting cut. So board members what is going on???? Where is the money, oh I mean Show Me the MONEY!!!! It sure isn't in the fund balance account. How much more can we cut and still run a school district. I guess what you said is now true Dr. Lewis, since the bond did not pass, there will be no raises, although I am not sure what bond money has to do with raises?????

L. Lewis also gets ALL his insurance paid for. Health, dental, vision, disability, etc. I also believe they pay his spouses' health. So add that to his salary. Go to lancasterisd.org and check out his contract for all the other perks he has received.

Lancaster ISD meeting raises suspicion
Fedupparent, kudos to you for bringing out what is happening with our atheletes. All students involved in the fight should have received the same punishment. It just goes to show us that athletics are at the top and academics are getting shoved lower and lower. Guess this goes to show us that a bright new state of the art building isn't what we always need to bring up grades, TAK scores, more graduates, etc....Oh, yea, we don't have all the state of the art equipment that had been promoted and promised when we were building the new high school.

Sheila, did you contact the district at 972-218-1400 and ask for Dr.LL or Human Resources??? I guess not, because if you had they would have told you that Ross Taylor along with Eugene Smith no longer work for LISD. In fact Terri Wilson was put in charge of the foundation, along with her other many hats, I mean work titles.
Canu: Racism is a two way street. I have seen it first hand myself. Also, since you seem to be so close to our Superintendent, why don't you ask for written documentation on any subject that has been talked about here and see what or if you get it...
Miss Morningstar, I sure do miss your articles.
People of Lancaster, if you had subcribed to Lancaster Today and the city and school district had made it the primary newspaper instead of Focus, we might still be getting the coverage we deserve.

Sheila, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Ross Taylor left the district rather quietly. Never heard as to why, but when people leave quietly, there has to be a good story behind it. I know, why don't you call Dr. LL and ask him why he left?
As far as Secondary TAKS scores, I am guessing they were not so good, because if they were... I am sure we would have received a flyer in the mail as to how great they were.....or something on the district web site...or Dr. LL letting the board and audience know at board meetings before they begin....or atleast end. I am almost certain that Dr. LL couldn't get out enough info when elementary TAKs scores did so great... I got a flyer in the mail, people heard about it at a board meeting, and i believe district staff got an email... go figure

Lancaster ISD Bond Referendum fails
The school district did hire high school students last summer, and students will be hired again this summer. It is the summer work program that Royce West began. It is to help high school students get jobs for several weeks, to get experience in the work force. There were students assigned to work at the administration offices and did several duties, one being to help in the finance dept. Now Jefmelch, get your mind out of the gutter. I never said or ever suggested anything concerning a stained blue dress. We have great students in our district. I think the summer job program is great for our students and the district. I just do not believe students should be helping imput confindental information or anything regarding finance.

We always have more questions and not enough answers. I would think if you call a meeting you would add the swearing in of the new board member. Maybe Dr.LL has something up his sleeve and can't stand the thought of losing a supporter. It just keeps getting fishier all the time. We all know that Ms. King will have her hands full. Hopefully she will stand tall and strong for the people that voted her in.

Lancaster ISD Bond Referendum fails
Interested persons, go check out LISD 05/06 audit on the TEA website. Our administrators are living the good life by the looks of it. The budget went from $1,700,000.00 to over $4,000,000.00 for administrators in our district. Too bad we did not use some of that money to get a finance dept. that knew what was going on in 05/06. If the person that did such a wonderful job finding where all the money went in the late audit, and if I am not mistaken, she worked for district at that time, why did it get so bad? Could it be that we had students in the summer work program helping our in finance department?? Surely that is just a RUMOR....

Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees Meeting
As usual the agenda for Monday night's meeting is not posted as should be, by district policy. I guess Jeff this is just another reportable condition and material weakness in the district. I wonder since it is not posted yet, are they waiting until the last minute to see if the Audit is ready for approval??? It just keeps going and going and going.....

UPDATED with meeting coverage: Three town hall meetings planned for Lancaster ISD
I am really sad that I missed the 2nd Town Hall meeting. The storm that came thru seemed like a warning to me. Was someone up above trying to let Dr. Lewis know that honest people tell the WHOLE TRUTH?
Dr.LL another bit of truth is that for years teachers have asked students for supplies for their classrooms for a grade. This is what happens when districts have to CUT BUDGETS to make up for monies because of... no instances of "suspected theft, misappropriation of assets or funds,or mismanagement of school funds" has happened. When you have to cut classroom budgets how can you say "CHILDREN FIRST!" Another thought... how can this district say that it puts around 70% into the classroom when it has to cut and or freeze the budget to make up for bad accounting practices?

Did the district's finance office personnel not know how to submit and imput our finances. JUST...SHOW ME THE AUDIT!

Are a Lancaster principal and public relations officer spinning a threat at the High School?
I applaud the Lancaster city police for taking the 911 call from a high school classroom telephone seriously. Even though it was terrifying to hear students talk about how the police put on their bullet proof vests, pulled assult rifles from their cars, yell for students to get away from the building, staff bringing out students in an orderly fashion from the building, I thank God this was only a prank call. Next time it might not be a prank.
PS anyone in their right mind should know that when police officers do all that, it must have been a pretty serious and believable phone call.
