Movie review: Capitalism: A Love Story

I'm not sure I want to see his goofy argument against the very system that made him millions. What's shameful is the entire argument is a huge fallacy in that the problems with capitalism is not the fault of capitalism itself. He could have made a legit argument about the corruption but made it more about the system, a system that is still the best in the world no matter its flaws.

Read his Larry King interview. This man has no proper logic at all.

State of NTTA given to Collin County Commissioners Court

I still don't understand the rationale behind the raising of tolls. If McDonald's wasn't selling enough BigMacs, would they raise the price of those so those who do buy the BigMac would pay more to make up the shortfall in profits?

The other thing I wonder, is there any clause now that states when the road is paid for, tolls go away? North Texans got screwed because the Dallas North Tollway didn't have that and now has become a money maker for NTTA.

City of Arlington still in budget slump despite projected Cowboys Stadium revenue

don't forget the 25 dollars they are now collecting for each car that parks in their lots, even though tax payers already paid for said lot.

I think Arlington is taking a page from the NTTA book.

Plano looks to Michigan to fix Preston/Legacy intersection

I'm not sure how you could consider Preston in any shape or form a "neighborhood road." As it is, the speed limit on Preston north of Tennyson is 55. That is hardly a typical road.

Plano looks to Michigan to fix Preston/Legacy intersection

I mean the problem couldn't possibly be that they force the left lane to turn blindly so through traffic is reduced to two lanes causing the stack up, especially when you have drivers that don't pay attention and are caught in the left lane trying to get over.

Why did they not just think overpass for the through traffic? They obviously set up that intersection for it.

Road rage amongst North Texas drivers second only to New York City

add no signaling on turns and lane changes, folks driving 50 in the fast lane, all the wasted space on HOV lanes...is there any reason to doubt why Dallas drivers get angry?

Dallas and St. Louis don't compare in convention center hotel debate

The St. Louis comparison was stupid since the numbers don't add up. Even when you look at the size of the metro areas, DFW is still far larger and can easily support a larger convention market.

The problem however is the approach. Large conventions have established themselves in cities where spending money is a business within itself. There is a reason why Las Vegas gets the majority of convention business. Dallas cannot compete on that level and the addition of a hotel isn't going to push the city into that market. As it stands, Dallas can't even revive the West End nor Deep Ellum, which would be the best hope to stir up tourist dollars again. The best convention market for Dallas would be political conventions to which this hotel would make obtaining them easier however that cannot justify the costs, especially when it would be the tax payer supporting it.

This is not the right time to look at this hotel. Leppert should be fulfilling his promise of more cops on the streets and should concentrate on cutting spending.

TxDOT responds to Central Expressway HOV criticism

I say let's make all interstate/U.S. highways permanently tolled. At the same time, cut the gas tax (at least) in half. Make each highway self sustaining so our tax dollars are not used for those any more while the gas tax gets rerouted back to roadways (such as state and F2M roads) so nothing else is underfunded.

No one, including me, likes toll roads. But then, no one has come up with a better solution other than raising the tax on a dwindling resource (gas). Tax what people drive instead of how much gas they use I say.

Two Savor Dallas contests are live on Pegasus News

I've never been so I'm wondering what else should you expect to pay for once there? The home page is rather limited with info.
