UPDATED: Craft brewing overhaul gets final approval
First, drop the attitude. You simply sound like an arrogant jerk and some of us would like to actually listen to all points of view on discussions like this.
Second, as much as I hate unions and the like, they are not going away anytime soon so laws will continue to protect them to some levels. Since these "protections" remain, there is no change in regard to capitalism and this law; I see that this law has made changes in favor of the free market and those changes will be good for the consumer.

Explain ellis; if they are removing regulations, then how is this a step away from capitalism?

Plano will reconfigure unpopular median left turn at Preston and Legacy
The so called "Michigan left" was a bad idea from the start so being in favor or not of going back isn't really the problem here. The problem is that now MORE tax payer dollars are going to be spent. What should have been the solution from the very beginning is to have Preston be an overpass over Legacy and be non stop much like how it is over 121.
Yes, revert it back however the citizens of Plano should start questioning the intelligence (and whether or not they should remain in office) those who proposed it and those who actually brought it to a vote.

American Airlines will allow those without carry-ons to board earlier
The one thing I've never been able to figure out is exactly what the logic is behind their boarding system; I mean you would figure if you board the plane back to front, it would be super easy to make sure you get folks on without a lot of isle bumping. And if you board the first/business folks first, biggest advantage they get is an overhead.
So does anyone know why the "C" group boards as they do even though lots of times "C" is mid-plane?

Sure....let's waste more tax payer dollars when the public kept saying to NOT do this in the first place. I mean what's a few more thousand, right? I mean it's not like they are paying for it.

Bueller? Bueller? There's gotta be someone who agrees with "Save Plano" who can explain the logic, right?

That's an appeal to emotion while not taking the parental responsibility to be honest with their children. It's like explaining the birds and the bees to kids: honesty is the best policy. Then it's just a matter of when you should, not why you should.
Next?

I never understood this argument. Liquor stores does not equal a bar. Bars people drink; liquor stores people buy the alcohol to take home to be responsible and stay home and drink it over a much longer period than a few hours (typically anyway).
I need help in understanding how this will cause Plano to burn and help me see how this argument is not a red herring.

I could keep going but I'm not sure it's worth it. Hope everyone stays safe.

It's as if Ricciardi is just as ignorant to what May 5th is as Congresswoman Johnson is and just one day removed from it...
"When the Mexican Army defeated French dictator Napoleon and his troops to gain national independence on May 5, 1862..."
Again, this is NOT when Mexican independence was gained.
This actually reminds me of a joke:
What is a person called that speaks 3 languages? Trilingual. What is a person called that speaks 2 languages? Bilingual. What is a person called that speaks 1 language? American.

Cinco de Mayo is integral to American culture
Cinco de Mayo is NOT a Mexican day of celebration nor a national holiday; it is a minor holiday only for those in the Puebla region and looked upon much more like a historical event. It's meaning and legacy pale to Sept. 16th so I would hope Mrs. Johnson understands that May 5th has actually become more significant to Americans than it is to Mexicans (maybe because it is easier for non-Spanish speakers to pronounce than Dieciséis de Septiembre).

Poll: What would you think about the Mavericks signing a gay player?
A few years ago, the question was related to race instead of sexual preference. Most level headed people understand it makes no difference yet the media continues to bring them up for reasons unknown.
Maybe one day editors will actually make it so news will lack a gender, racial, or sexual preference tone and simply talk of individuals and their actions.
Meanwhile, may I suggest Fahrenheit 451?

Protests ramp up near presidential library
Bush 43 is simply a polarizing figure in history and he always will be. I cannot say I agreed with some of his wartime decisions, especially Iraq, however I do not see a point to protest now. We are 4+ years since he was in office and while his decisions have forever changed the course of America, continuing to blame him for what has already been accomplishes nothing.

Opinion: Not everyone uses prayer to cope so don't force it
billy is right; why must you look to be offended instead of simply saying thank you? How or even why is the "natural reaction" one of feeling offended?
Mr. Dearman, you are politely asking a theist to give up their Constitutionally protected right to freedom of religion and freedom of speech all because the atheist might get offended. That's like me asking a homosexual couple to stop making out in public because I find it "offensive." If it is not right for me to tell a homosexual couple to stop something I myself have done or may do again, why would you ask me to stop praying for someone because you don't agree with it?
Your use of Matthew 6:5 is a non sequitur since the meaning was one of showing off for attention (prayer for vanity if you will), not a one-on-one interaction where the theist is showing caring for another human being. Perhaps you meant to take it to another level however the argument you present, "I'll pray for you," suggests one person talking to another in a caring way, not one to elevate the theist's position in the eyes of the other. One has to actually understand what "I'll pray for you" actually means when from a Christian when speaking these words to another person before you make the comparison to a vain action.
Lastly, your point of "lazy or flippant for someone to offer prayers for another without trying to help the other person in ways he or she wants to be helped" suggests help has to be in a monetary or gift-giving form in order to be helpful. Worse, you actually make it sound as if help should be expected, not as something unintended and to be grateful for. "Help" by definition is assistance or aid, not mandated or a requirement by anyone. If you lose your home or car or loved one, no one has to help you or comfort you; people do it because of their own morality and sense of solidarity with other people. During a tragedy, prayer, kind words, a shoulder to lean on, even a hug, may be the only help someone can offer another at that moment. If that is offensive, should I assume individuality trumps the idea of humanity?
Prayer is not by intention offensive or meant to be taken as offending. It is compassion through faith from one to another. I am not sure the intention of this publication in light of what just happened in Boston and West. All I can wonder is why.

1,500-page immigration bill paves legal road to citizenship
Perhaps first answering the question "secure from what" would help. Is the threat one of terrorism? Taxes? Medical spending? No one has yet to ever answer exactly what we need to be secured from all the while forgetting the number one reason for immigrants to enter illegally: jobs.
If we are to "secure" the border to prevent immigrants from getting a job in this nation, shouldn't the proper response be to target the employers who hire them?
If the "secure" action is about terrorism, shouldn't someone be reminded that the most horrible act to date were by those who used forged documents to enter legally; no one simply walked across.
I would like to see an honest discussion, not one filled with political posturing and mud slinging since that (from both sides) has done nothing meaningful for years.

Dallas Midtown architects plan to create a city within a city
These plans rarely work because for the most part, they are serious money losers. Within a year or two, most money backers pull out or the economy goes south and things like the gondola, which was a way to sell it to the public, end up having to be cut out.
We'll see...hopefully the city won't back the majority of it.

Artisan butchers may be few, but they are dedicated to preserving the craft
Butchers are far better than the big box grocery but find one who is willing to stock his freezers with organic or grass fed beef or no hormone pork and chicken and then finding one of these guys is an almost impossible task.

Texas Legislature considers a ban on texting and driving
Perry's excuse on why he would veto this comes off more on the side of extreme political posturing. There are state laws that are the very definition of micromanaging yet I do not see him posturing to remove those (e.g. the speed limit - wouldn't education manage when to drive fast and when not to?).

Video: Beyonce gives lights-out Super Bowl performance
She danced through most of it. Real singing didn't occur until the end. What she mostly sang were choruses (I really get annoyed with singers that point the mic back to the crowd - they paid to see you, not sing for you). And while she has an amazing voice, and what she did sing was very good, I wasn't exactly impressed with the show itself. The highlight was supposed to be Beyonce, not her backup singers.
As to the "best of all time," perhaps someone needs to watch the U2 performance a few months after 9/11 or the Prince halftime show from last time it was in Miami (Purple Rain while it was raining, now that was amazing).
Scale of 1-10, I give Beyonce a 5.

Best and worst commercials of the Super Bowl
For best, my votes go to: Doritos goat, the Mercedes Deal with the Devil (aka Faust), and Amy Poehler.
Notable mention goes to the Jeep with Oprah.
Worst had to be the GoDaddy and Subway.
I really didn't think this year's commercials were all that special really. And while some are talking about the "farmer" commercial from Ram, I didn't go crazy for it.

Opinion: It's time to push insurance companies to cover mental health
Yes, you CAN purchase it. Because it is not forced down your throat does not mean you cannot buy it yourself:
http://www.aetna.com/plans-services-h...
http://www.cigna.com/assets/docs/texa... (look at the plan details)
http://www.bcbstx.com/getting_started...
The problem is they LIMIT how many visits you get. And that is where the system begins to break down as these companies will start charging much more for longer term care.
Again, if you want it enough and money is not an issue, these insurance companies will sell it to you. But most employers will not spend that kind of money for something they know most will not use and most people are not willing to put in that much towards. So if you want it, you have to get it separately in some cases or contribute more towards it if from your employer.

Insurance companies DO cover mental health. Your article should be about the affordability and availability of mental and behavioral coverages...not whether or not they do. A simple Google search of Aetna, Cigna, or BCBS could have told you about what they offer and cover.
The problem involves whether or not your employer bought into plans that cover it and then it's about how many possible psychiatric visits you get with the plan or if the plan covers long term care. And then of course the costs...that's what the discussion should be about.
Gun control is a separate discussion and so far, data doesn't exactly show the bans did much of anything in the way of violence (mostly because of the black market).
