Dallas Museum of Art's Jazz Under the Stars debuts Thursday, May 22

The dates are wrong on this article... should be 5/21, 5/28, 6/4, 6/11, 6/18, 6/25.

UPDATED: Dallas City Council to consider "walkable" zoning regulations on Monday

Teresa, I'm hearing from some REAL new urbanists in town that the supporters of this are not actually pushing for form based zoning. Sounds like this may be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

In an effort to 'protect' neighborhoods (which is often code for not allow any positive development or change) these groups are actually going to stand in the way of allowing Dallas to become more walkable, bikable, etc like Portland and other progressive cities.

Nodding Dog coffeehouse in Dallas' Bishop Arts district appears to have shut down

Wow, dbridges... clearly been watching a little Borat to perfect your use of the 'not'.

The Dog is dead. A friend of mine got one of the overstuffed chairs as a parting gift.

In other news... I tried Bolsa last night and was very impressed. They open for dinner officially tonight (with a rumor of free alcohol all weekend!).

Screen Door at One Arts Plaza in Dallas now open for lunch

This may be my favorite restaurant review pic ever. Nice work.

    Galerie La Vie Boheme

Galerie La Vie Boheme will be closing in May as it's owner, Blue McElroy, will be graduating from Booker T. and heading off to college.

The owner of the property has indicated that the zoning will not support a restaurant, but they are actively seeking another retail establishment to take it's place.

    Cosmo Rouge bites the dust

Just wanted to let folks know that the new restaurant operator who is in the old Cosmo space has reopened the bar while they work on remodeling the dining room and kitchen.

The bartender from Cosmo has stayed on and the drinks are still excellent.

As for the earlier posts regarding the old Cosmo having been a financial supporter of the Bishop Arts District, it's simply not true. As a property owner in the District and a board member of the merchant association, I can tell you that Stephen didn't do much to foster good relationships with his neighbors.

Either way - we're excited for Matt Spillers and crew to get their new restaurant open and are happy to enjoy the cool vibe of the Cosmo bar in the meantime.

Oak Cliff Pizza & Pasta brings a taste of NY to OC

    Ahhh, wikipedia to the rescue.

Adam Sandler seems to refer to hoagies and grinders interchangably in his classic 'Lunch Lady Land'.

Yes, the pizza restaurant is the official word. But I don't think it will at all compare with a Pizza Patron. The bar will stay and the menu will change. I trust they'll change those chairs too, but who knows.

Suddenly we're surrounded by a nice selection of Italian oriented eateries... the old standby of Vitto's, the new Cafe Italia and the brand new Oak Cliff Pizza and Pasta, and now the new restaurant filling Cosmo.

    Should be interesting!

Can you be west of Bishop when you are actually located on Bishop? Maybe the fanciest dining room west of Hattie's, although I bet Kavala would like to be in that running.

A new family style pizza place will be filling the space that Cosmo's leaves empty. I would expect you to see activity there in less than a week.

Jingle Bells on Bishop celebrated on December 7 & 8

I'm wondering if the Piggly Wiggly actually occupied the location prior to La Familia. I'll post again once I've done the research.

Cedars noise crusader is poop scooping scofflaw

The last time I was at Lee Harvey's (Saturday, November 17), Adelman was with Chris Jones, and appeared to be assisting with the videotaping. Makes me question his objectivity in this matter.

    UPDATED: Dallas County election results

I do think it's somewhat encouraging that in addition to the Trinity park project, construction starts on the Woodall Rogers park in Q1 of 2008. There's no question that Dallas is a center for commerce, but adding a little green space around that commerce will be nice.

    UPDATED: Dallas County election results

Does anyone know if there is any Dallas county historical data on early voting numbers versus election day numbers? Do the early voting numbers usually provide a good indication of how the election will end up?

    The Quinn

Solid bar food options (recommend the Toasted Natural, the brisket quesadilla, the hotdog with Zang chili, and the reuben). Great staff. Drink specials Sunday-Tuesday. Always a nice group of folks at The Quinn.

Trinity referendum: Who funded the campaigns?

As an Oak Cliff resident, I will say that I see as many 'Vote Yes' signs that are illegally placed on public property as 'Vote No' signs. The one on the banks of the Trinity as you cross the river on Sylvan is the one that really makes me laugh.

I'll vouch for Trey Kazee. In addition to mastering Google 101, he's also just a smart guy.
