UPDATED - Video: Nominations announced for 10th Annual Column Awards

I'll keep this brief...or maybe not.

The Column Awards have ALWAYS honored the best of the metroplex. The staff behind The Column Awards devote countless hours of their personal time (without pay) and sacrifice themselves for the sole purpose of giving countless artists their due recognition.

With that said, they've also busted their rears to make sure people enjoy themselves. That's what we call entertainment. Yes different people have different tastes, but they also have a choice.

If you can't have fun doing something, why do it? If you don't like a show, you don't go see it. If you don't like green peas, don't eat them.

Regarding the quote : "We NEVER take ourselves seriously. That's what people LOVE about THE COLUMN Awards."

The quote is meant to show people that The Column Awards are not holding themselves on a pedestal as some high and mighty organization but rather, as an easy going and fun loving group who think there is a worthy group of artists who need recognition, not only by their patrons but also by their peers. Surely it's an honor to be commended by one's own co-workers?

The Column Awards probably aren't for everyone, there is a four letter word for that... LIFE.

As for people thinking that The Column Awards represent the DFW theater area, it's just junk... the hard-working and richly deserving actors, technicians, directors, designers, musicians, choreographers, and theaters are the ones who speak volumes about the quality and professional levels of artistry that are deeply embedded in our midst.

The Column Awards just happens to elevate those deserving individuals for a brief moment to shine.
