UPDATED: Dallas Top Chef Tre Wilcox signs on at Loft 610 in Plano
Good news for Tre though I wish it was his own place.

Dallas frozen yogurt meltdown: SpoonFull in Plano
Certainly nothing wrong w/chocolate :)
Thanks for the clarification. You might consider revising the sentence to indicate that it's the view of the business owner, not the reviewer.

Enough with the digs against Plano.
"But this is West Plano so don't expect exotic flavors"
tell that to Jasper's, JS Chen's, Naan, & Cafe Istanbul.

Summer menu at Dallas' Pyramid Room gets fresh
Doesn't sound like an honest review to me. The decor when I went was more Pier 1 than 'chic.' And don't even get me started on the food. Over priced and improperly prepared -- of course on the Saturdy night I went the chef was nowhere in sight.

Plano looks to Michigan to fix Preston/Legacy intersection
I hope the city won't allow an overpass at Legacy & Preston. It's supposed to be a neighborhood road.

Plano Firefighters Association challenges idea of Collin County as Republican stronghold
again, you really need to differentiate your opinion stories from your news stories. This crap is fine, but please label it differently so it doesn't get picked up by the aggregators, etc.

Maybe you could post her office phone number. We could all pick a day to give her the wake-up call.

Plano's Live Green Expo is expensive propaganda
stick to the news here. it looks like an interesting event. cover it as such.
commentary like this shouldn't be mingled with the news on the site.

Effects of DART light rail on Plano
The sales tax for DART was added to the normal sales tax. I remember when that happened. So you're saying we should instead use that penny for something else? Then basically, you're saying we should raise taxes by a penny. Novel for a republican. The DART issue is really unrelated. You can argue that DART is a waste of the sales tax, but that discussion needs to be separate from a discussion of whether Plano needs another 1% sales tax for general operations.

Martini Park at Shops at Legacy in Plano is closed down
I was wondering how they were able to stay open! The law in Plano is very clear about selling alcohol. The liquor sales need to be less than 50% of their revenue. I'm really pissed off because I thought about opening a bar in Plano but ultimately couldn't figure out a way to do it legally. Then Martini Park opens up OBVIOUSLY breaking the law. It's shameful that Plano and the TABC let it stay open for so long.
I think part of why it was open for so long is that the jurisdiction for enforcement of the laws is murky. The TABC and the Comptroller and the City of Plano all think someone other than them is responsible for enforcing the 50% law.
Don't get me wrong -- I'm all for having liquor sales in Plano. The laws should be changed, but you've got to play fairly until they do.

Coast Global Seafood opens at Shops at Legacy in Plano
I never knew so many people lived in Plano. The Shops at Legacy is always busy. What did everyone do before this was built?

UPDATEX2: Dallas attorney Fred Baron has urgent life-threatening illness but can't get experimental meds from Biogen
how is it that the drug company gets to decide what the use is? I thought doctors had the right to prescribe medicine even for "off-label" usage.

New product Wednesday, in Dallas-area stores: M&M's Premiums
Real chocolate just has cacao paste, cocoa butter, sugar, usually vanilla, and sometimes lecithin in varying proportions. These m&ms have different kinds of fats besides cocoa butter and some artificial flavorings.

DART has now decided to re-design HOV lanes
I'm not a traffic designer but I can't understand how things like this could happen. Other peevs:
on 75 the entrances and exits are shared. this makes for a game of chicken everytime I'm trying to get off while someone's trying to get on.
the one lane going on and off bush from the (original) tollway (that then splits into east/west or north/south) -- that thing's always backed up for miles. Add another lane!
on bush at the big toll booths there's a phantom lane on the far left that only appears near the toll booth. people jump into it to try to outflank the fast lane, but just end up merging back with it after the toll booth where the phantom lane vanishes. People that jump in that lane bug me. Selfish pricks.

Coca-Cola StarplexSmirnoff Music Centre becomes Superpages.com CenterCan't we publicly refer to it as Starplex? It's bad enough that corporations are naming public venues. It's even worse when they keep changing the names. I hope Daniel Huerta got a decent cut of the $ to be shilling for a corporation that's not his employer.

CD Review: Eisley's Combinations
I blame the change to a harder edge on the producer. To me it kinda sounds like they made an album and then went back to add a couple more tracks that were more "produced."

Ice-T album cover - too raunchy for music stores
Record store? What's that? Oh, you mean iTunes, right?
Went to Tower this weekend for its big going out of business sale. They were offering 20% off a $19.99 CD that was released in 1992 and is available on iTunes for $9.90. No wonder they're going out of business.

DirecTV: Kiss my ass
The Dish has been mostly ok for me. At least when they screw something up they give you a credit on your bill. Plus the billionaire owner does a call-in show once a month where he sits down and answers subscribers' questions.
