This was a very cunning way to share your company's website, but it's spam.

gogreenandsave, the information you sent about Medieval Times was useful and interesting, but because it was followed by two spam hyperlinks, we had to remove it.

Experience the Amazon without those pesky mosquitoes
I've had a few people ask me what Lovell's day job was before she was retired, since it's clear that going to the Amazon nearly 50 times costs a pretty penny. Lovell told me her former profession off-the-record, so I can't divulge that. What I can say is that she saved her money wisely and later got discounts once she arrived to the Amazon.
She said this right after telling me about her former job: "I'm from a humble background; you save your money and go."

Historic building in Denton is recognized for its significance to community
Oh James, how sad! This is one of those great opportunities just to write a feel-good story about a place people like. No plans for demolition.

Dallas Divas & Daughters tell us it can be fashionable to have a job
Jury's still out on that one, AnnMarie. Many agree that it's an embarrassing representation of Dallas -- and yet, our site gets significant hits for people searching for the show.

UPDATED: Residents of Sycamore Heights in Fort Worth blast city about planned natural gas pipeline
The question has been posed to me about where in the area Chesapeake Energy has laid pipelines similar to the one that is slated to run underneath Carter Avenue. The concern, I believe, is that some homeowners would like proof of location -- beyond just "we've done it before."
(I'm referring to this part in the above story: According to Bond, this location isn't the first pipeline to be routed through a busy neighborhood, nor is it an especially new process... "This is the same kind of pipeline being installed to move gas from wells in many areas.” The pipe is a solid half-inch thick steel pipe 16 inches in diameter.)
Here's what Justin Bond says, public affairs supervisor for Chesapeake: "Pipelines of this type currently exist in residential areas in Haltom City, Richland Hills, Arlington and other cities across Tarrant County. Just like the proposed pipeline on Carter Avenue, the existing pipelines mentioned above are constructed of the same quality required by federal standards. It’s unlikely, however, that these other pipelines are bored 80 to 130 feet deep, as the line at Carter Avenue is proposed. As there are a number of companies installing pipelines around these cities and others, it’s important to note that all easements and operations are not necessarily Chesapeake pipelines."
[For transparency's sake, I was told the pipelines would be bored 70 to 130 feet deep as opposed to the above comment which says it will be 80 to 130 feet deep.]

Yes to both: They filmed a "quick segment" of the show there, then stayed for coffee and a chat with the owners, according to the PR person who was there.

The fact that it's a reality show with a celebrity isn't really that important, though it's cool for the coffee house to get national publicity.

Here's a weird one: Free shredding services from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 16. Get your shred on at Family 1st of Texas Federal Credit Union, 3501 Western Center Boulevard in Fort Worth.
I think it's a great idea, but the concept caught me off guard. I get constant emails about events and stories: Come to a soccer game, try this wine tasting, view our new art exhibit, let's ... shred some paper?
I just re-read the press release, and I don't have any info, unfortunately, on what they do with the paper once it's shredded.

Photo gallery: Fans savor short moments of Oprah Winfrey onstage at State Fair of Texas
Thanks, tetsujin. It was quite a spectacle to see her there -- though I don't dislike her in the least. The "gone for good" comment was just in regard to the hundreds of people who had waited HOURS for Oprah and didn't get the usual Oprah-type show. I am sure many of them were left wanting to see more of her!

Dallas Divas & Daughters schools us on Facebook etiquette and mean mom tactics
I just received an email from Cindy Legeza, one of the moms featured in Dallas Divas and Daughters. (She's the one they spotlight as the single lady on the prowl.) She has a pretty great sense of humor, both on the show and off, as evidenced by this email.
"I'd love to say that we are going to solve the health care crisis or some other debacle, but in lieu of that, perhaps we can provide some form of entertainment and escapism. My hair alone is reason to watch! Fortunately, on a day to day basis, I look more subdued. Life is much less interesting if we can't take a moment and laugh at ourselves. --Cindy Legeza"
