New product Wednesday, at Dallas-area stores: Reese's Select Clusters
Speaking as a member of the "I can't stand peanut butter and chocolate together" club, it amazes me how many ways Reeses has found to combine those flavors. (i still remember the "hey, you got your chocolate in my peanut butter" commercials!)

Dallas-area Starbucks to get new "healthy" breakfast items starting Wednesday Sept. 3
Do you know if they are they making the oatmeal there in batches, or is it instant? At least they're making the effort.

New product Wednesday, at Dallas-area stores: Crest Nature's Expressions mint + green tea extract toothpaste
Jason, only if it's a tomato tortilla wrap.
I have reverted to going into the discount stores and buying those long sheets of toothbrushes, kind of like the lollipops in the cellophane wrappers, all connected. (but i buy no toothpaste there, rumor has it there is antifreeze in the stuff!)

West Plano yard sale report: end table redux
Sherry, I have really grown to like that little table, so I won't let the $1.00 get in the way of a good friendship!
By the way, what I knew as yard sales in the South are called Tag Sales in the NorthEast, where I find myself these days. And contrary to the year-round abundance of Saturday morning sales, up in these parts, it is a seasonal thing, and the season is very short. It seems to start around spring cleaning, with a break for the 4th of July, but as of this weekend I saw no signs, no telltale neon poster board duct taped to a wooden spike.

Dallas-based 7-Eleven introduces non-milk-based, caffeinated, 102-calorie knockoff of Starbucks' Frappuccino
Wonder what the base is, if not milk. Maybe we don't really want to know!

Best Bites: Dining out in Dallas-Fort Worth February 22
I don't know about dessert pizzas, I've never come across one that lives up to my expectations. Better to leave pizza for the main course and finish with a great cannoli!

Chef Mickie Crockett leaving Trader Vic's to join Consilient Restaurants
Didn't Trader Vic's just reopen? And I like the fact that the manager gave her a compliment as she's leaving, that's class.

"Last but not least: Belly dancers on Fridays at 8 p.m."
Wow! I'm trying to imagine how that would add to the appreciation of the food, guess you'd have to be there. (Years ago before it was cool, my sister took belly dancing lessons.)

Kirk: You're right, prices are definitely lower at yard sales, but, except on rare occasion when the seller doesn't know what they have, the quality isn't there.

Nice to see people giving downtown Plano a chance, I think it has a lot of potential. And what's wrong with old lady antique shops? Where else can you sell old ladies?

Seasonal Halloween stores swarm Dallas
"Stupidly, even pets have costumes (although no decent human being would subject their pets to such a thing)"
I agree, the local PetCo has stocked costumes, and I can't imagine dressing up a dog or cat! Yet, no Halloween goes by without someone sending a picture of their Fido as a Hot Dog, or something.

Le Cordon Bleu opens cooking school in Dallas
Aren't there lots of stories about these specialty schools trading diplomas for cash? Sanford-Brown comes to mind. And, anyhow, we can't all be Julia Child!

Men's magazine Esquire ranks Fearing's in Dallas as Restaurant of the Year
Between 1992 and 1999 there was a restaurant chain in New England called the Road Kill Cafe which pretended to serve road killed animals. I believe Weasel was a top seller on their menu.
A problem with eating road kill, however, is the tendency for small particles of bone from impact to be embedded in the surrounding tissue.

Why does every petty thief who steals a credit card have to immediately run out and buy a &$#! TV?
So they can rush home and watch "Law & Order"!

Farewell fete for Buzz-Oven bigwig Aden Holt, leaving Deep Ellum for Denver
"I hate to leave Deep Ellum and say bad things about it because it's been so good to me over the years," Holt said. "It's in a bad phase right now -- but everybody already knows that."
maybe it's in a bad phase because everyone's leaving?
