Movie Review: Sweeney Todd
Interesting review, John. Thanks for the depth of analysis.Your comments have intrigued me enough to spend the shekels to see this. I was horrifed when I heard the NPR interview this past week, where it was revealed that no trained singers were cast in this version. As a well-schooled singer who has performed in any number of Sondheim musicals, all with demanding music, I had decided to give the movie a wide berth.I'll share my impressions, once I see it. Theater Review: A Bur-Less-Q Nutcracker
Wonder what this is about? Strange remark. Martin's comic style engages a tremendously detailed physicality, impeccable timing and intense mental focus (as in "Roxanne", for instance). Mark-Brian exhibits similar qualities as a performer. He is also quite a playwright, like Steve Martin. Perhaps this director is only familiar with the "wild and crazy guy" facet of Steve Martin? There's a LOT more to this artist.Comparison drawn as a compliment, by the way....

When Black Friday comes, where should you stand down by the door?
I completely retract my praise of the Old Navy deal. I had to be up anyway so went at 7 AM to find they had none of the free RockBand games.
