Lakewood Bar and Grill shut down on Wednesday
This is what happens when people stop going out to see live music. If you value it, support it.

I tried it. It was a decent burger. However, I have no idea what all the hype was about. That about sums it up.

LOL. Love it. Keep piling it on. They deserve every bit of it. Am I the only one looking forward to the episode of Lamar and Kloe where Lamar comes home after this? Hope she's got the Depends ready for him.

A Massachusetts newspaper has decided to charge a 99 cent fee to post comments on its website - as well as displaying the commenters' names as they appear on their credit card. Brilliant, dudes. Hope your wacky get-rich-never scheme works out for you.
@Robert Brooks - wish I could give the thumbs up to that one ... hilarious, and so true. +1000 points, use sparingly.

Hey, my pleasure Myra. You've got a great thing going on over there. I'm just trying to help get the word out. If you guys have any upcoming events you want to promote, please consider stopping by the Roadhouse and letting us know.
Thanks,

Deep Ellum Arts Festival is Just Around the Corner
So I've heard a LOT of complaints from the artists about this year's festival. Basically, the word around town is that this festival used to pay the artists for their performances. But this year, they changed their tune (so to speak) and began asking professional musicians to play for free. You can read some of the comments on the issue here:

Frisco Arts Center Open House
Hey everybody,
This is Michael with the Frisco Jazz Band. I just want to remind everyone that our FREE show is tomorrow afternoon at 4:30pm. The Cowboys aren't playing on Sunday. So this is a perfect time to come here some live jazz on a Sunday afternoon. There will also be free drinks and food to eat. So come on by and join us for the show.
The Frisco Jazz Band is a full 18 piece big band. We will be playing big band standards from the golden era of big band and swing. I will personally be laying down the vocals and guitar on Jump Jive and Wail, the complete Brian Setzer Orchestra arrangement. These horns are amazing. You need to hear what I'm talking about.
We will also throw in a selection of Holiday tunes to keep things festive. It is an all ages show, so bring your young ones as well. We have a few surprises in store for them too.
Did I mention the show is free? Did I mention parking is free. Food? Drinks? All free.
The show is at the Frisco Arts Center in historic downtown Frisco. We hope to see you there.

Fish on Fire shuts down, seafood restaurant on Belt Line in Dallas says bye
The food was mediocre at best. But I will miss this place. They had some great music there for a while. Once they canceled the live music, I never went back. I wish them well with the new location. If they start having live music again, I'll stop by. Otherwise, there are lots of places to eat.

Holland K Smith
I believe this is going to be a live CD recording at Pearl on 4th of July. That's what Holland told me last night at Ernie's. So, anyone wanting to be on one of Holland's albums should show up and yell like crazy. :)
