Is the Dallas Main Post Office about to close?
It seems like the bigger issue that we can all relate to is the loss of a major employer to Coppell... why isn't the Mayor all over this one?

American Eagle to offer nonstop flights between Dallas and Santa Fe
Yay!!!! Much better than continuing to fund the money-losing Wright Amendment "propaganda express" between Love Field and Chicago.

Fort Worth-based American Airlines signs 17-year lease at Dallas Love Field
That's a bit of a spin, even for the spin-meisters at AA--- canceling all service out of Love Field for the foreseeable future is hardly a positive.
What happened to all the chest-beating about how AA was going to be forced to send in a swarm of their beat-up, smog-belching old MD-80's to Love Field to compete with Southwest if the Wright Amendment were tampered with in any way?

American Eagle will cease service to Dallas' Love Field in June
And the real reason is that they have finished (for the time being) their multi-dimensional propaganda/disinformation campaign associated with keeping the Wright Amendment in place.

Trinity referendum: Who funded the campaigns?
So... is the City of Dallas ever going to start providing this data in an electronic, searcheable database format?
Their continued use of archaic scanned documents is a real problem.

Love Field tickets could soon cost $3 more across the board
This is just the start of it... Southwest Airlines is also being forced to pay some of the cost of the improvements itself. You can bet that their increased costs of doing business at Love Field will also be passed along to passengers in the form of higher ticket prices.

DFW International Airport recognized as one of world's safest airfields
I'm not sure I agree with the title... it's not that DFW is super safe, rather, they currently have a dangerous condition that they are actively working to address. More specifically, the unusually high percentage of landing aircraft at DFW required to cross active runways is an item of concern.
One accident alone could easily generate over 300 fatalities as a departing aircraft slams into another aircraft accidentally crossing its path.
Props to DFW Airport for proactively addressing this problem (which doesn't exist at Love Field, by the way).

UPDATED: DART to make Live Oak lane closure on southbound 75 more permanent
The Live Oak lane closure manages to simultaneously illustrate TxDOT's incompetence as well as its indifference towards Texas drivers: 1) As pointed out by brint, as of yet there has been no need for the closure: the only thing that TxDOT is doing is storing poles on the right shoulder about half way down. In other words, the millions of dollars in lost productivity, wasted time, numerous fender benders, and excess auto emissions have all been for nought. 2) Even WITH the closure, the massive backups and associated problems could have been easily avoided with the lane restriping, which they are only now begrudgingly agreeing to implement.

American Airlines trims number of flights out of Love Field
Well, at least they got to strafe the neighborhoods with their old, loud, smoke-belching MD-80's for awhile.
AA's management reminds me of a an angry 8th grade bully with a lot of cash but an absence of common sense.

Yes, I can certainly see how creating a "safety cushion" which starts over 1/2 mile before the closed exit, which itself is nearly 1/4 mile before the site of the construction work, will help matters-- NOT!
As already pointed out by bmslaw, moving the beginning of the safety cushion back to the Woodall Rogers exit lanes would eliminate the bottleneck entirely, since a large % of southbound traffic exits using those additional lanes.
Instead, TxDOT has created a murderous 5 mile + traffic jam which stretches past Northwest Highway at times, leading to all sorts of mayhem and wrecks as expressway speed traffic suddenly confronts motionless vehicles without any warning whatsoever.
TxDOT = IDIOTS

And you thought D-FW weather coverage was fear-mongering and ridiculous
I grew up in Oklahoma City; believe it or not, Gary England is a quasi-legend there. I still have childhood memories of gathering with my parents and sisters in the center of our house during tornado warnings and listening to his voice.
As a matter of fact, Gary England served as the weather announcer in god-awful 1996 movie "Twister," starring Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt.
Unlike some of DFW's faux-weathermen, however, England is actually a meteorlogical heavyweight, having participated in the development of Doppler radar and authored several books about weather, among other things.

Now, about the tone of the advertisement itself.... good grief!

Flight from Love Field to Houston disrupted by agitated guy
It was probably a DFW Airport Board employee upset about competition, Love Field, the Wright Amendment, Southwest Airlines, etc.

Of course, it's also worth noting that Mannatech is a company which has long been surrounded by controversy for allegedly deceptive trade practices, pyramid marketing, etc.
It will be interesting to watch how this one plays out!

Belmont Neighborhood Association struggling for recognition
I don't get it. If I understand things correctly, the Dallas City Council has delegated the authority to recognize homeowner leagues to the Dallas Homeowners League.
Yet, by the sounds of this letter and things I have read elsewhere... it's morphed into basically a back-scratching organization of insiders who don't even make any pretense of following their own rules when it doesn't particularly suit their hidden agenda.
How can an organization implementing public policy on behalf of the Dallas City Council be run in such an unprofessional manner?

Gas drilling to start at DFW airport this week
Amazing that no one in the City of Dallas had the courage to suggest that at least some of this windfall be remitted back to the airport's owners (the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth- who actually paid for the land and the mineral rights).
Rather, the Airport Board has already indicated that the vast majority of this money will be passed through to the airlines via a reduction in landing fees, with a small remainder used to improve airside facilities (bathrooms, etc.).
An gigantic gift for American Airlines, courtesy of our local governments.
Well done, Laura Miller!

Wright Amendment lawsuit dismissed
This issue was clearly too important to allow regular constituents the right to know what was being discussed, let alone actually giving them any meaningful input.
Better to let American Airlines, Kay & Ray Hutchison, the DFW Airport Board, Laura Miller, and a select group of aging city business executives hammer things about behind closed doors... after all, they know what's best for us: a 25-year long cartel split beween American Airlines and Southwest.
Yay, political leadership! Way to go... who needs jobs and economic development anyway... I'm sure Grapevine, Euless, Irving, Ft. Worth and the other communities near DFW Airport can better manage the "headaches" associated with a increased job growth and an expanding tax base.
