UPDATED: Woman uses cake to lure son-in-law, shoots him in the head
This would have never happened in Garland. Here we have a municipal shooting range. This incident highlights why the government must subsidize weapons training at an early age. Especially, poor children could be in extreme danger if forced into a gun fight with a wealthy child.

Dallas school board rules that top execs must have residences within DISD
So they only required residency, not actually sending your kids to DISD schools. This policy might allow for a slightly stronger connection to the community, but no actual empathy.
So what do you think would be better. Being able to get people with better resumes, or people that actually care about the kids in the school?
Do top executive jobs in DISD ever go to the most qualified person, or just to the best politically connected person?
How do you really judge the performance of a top executive at a place like a school district? Performance? How do you compare the performance of an executive from a highly successful school district filled with students that are wealthy and predisposed to going to college to an executive that manages in a district that has a high percentage of students who are illegally in the country and will have to take jobs that are off the books if they were to excel in school and graduate?
I think the answer is that you cannot pick a highly qualified executive in education based on resume. Hiring has to be based entirely on politics. I think that a less qualified person that has children in the schools they manage is more likely to produce than a person that is chosen based on politics and whether they own a home in far north dallas and send thier children to St. Marks.

Where should I ride my bike now? I have enjoyed riding around White Rock lake for decades. I have never grown tired of it. Where will I enjoy riding just as much that is not in Dallas?

Cycling tickets on the rise at White Rock Lake
I have ridden a bicycle for 42 years with no head injuries. Eventually, everything will be illegal in the United State. I am seriously interested in voting with my feet now. Between this and tieing a dog up getting you jail time. Owning a dog that bites and injurs someone go to jail for ten years. It is just getting ridiculous. What freak accident that got blown up by the DMN caused this?

Scared Irving immigrants removing children from school
The illegal immigration problem looks as if it is finally self-correcting. Since there is not enough cheap labor in this country most things are made somewhere else. To correct the situation the value of the dollar will fall until U. S. citzens cannot afford the things they need from other countries. When they are poor enough they will take jobs that we currently only have illegals doing. Hopefully, enough foreign investors will be found to employ them.
Of course, no government has ever survived eliminating their Social Security System. That should happen in my life time. If history repeats itself the United States will be broken up into a group of smaller countries and a new world power will rise up as soon. Probably the EU and China. So let's get on with our destiny and get the last of the real workers out the country now. They are only prolonging the inevitable by false Social Security illegally.

Countrywide saw real estate market collapse coming, says Dallas-based MortgageDaily.com
InformedBroker, could part of the answer be not having mortgage companies that are not banks also? When the mortgage business is deteriorating banks can move thier capital to more productive areas quickly. Megamortgage companies really just have one trick in a business that is cyclical so to save the business when they should tighten up they intensify their originating. Does that make sense?

Sheriffs more likely than police departments to welcome new arrest discretion
It does not really effect me, but I am shocked that it is possible to get arrested for a small amount of Marijuana. If more people knew that, I doubt it would be that way. Stats in the 70s showed that 60% of people that are now 50ish used it daily. I know that they now want it illegal, but they don't want thier kids arrested for using it.
Way early, to declare Mitt president.
There are no potential candidates at the moment to get the moral majority out to vote in either party.
Who could blame them. The Republicans promised the end of abortion and the contract with America. Bill Clinton passed 3 of the points of the contract, and George Bush with a Republican House, Senate, and judiciary repealed one and passed none. As soon as Republicans had full control they decided that public service meant serving oneself.
- FIRST, require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply equally to the Congress;
- SECOND, select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of Congress for waste, fraud or abuse;
- THIRD, cut the number of House committees, and cut committee staff by one-third;
- FOURTH, limit the terms of all committee chairs; FIFTH, ban the casting of proxy votes in committee;
- SIXTH, require committee meetings to be open to the public; SEVENTH, require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase;
- EIGHTH, guarantee an honest accounting of our Federal Budget by implementing zero base-line budgeting.

New Texas laws place stricter penalties for animal cruelty, attacks
Imprisonment for chaining up a dog is just way over the top.
I think that law and order is the main reason for this society's success. But I am a little concerned that politicians feel that the only way to get elected is to make everything illegal or more illegal every time that a high profile news story comes up.
I think that people that want dangerous dogs should not be allowed to have dogs. But how long can it be, before a real tradgedy occurs and requires this penalty to be increased to make owning a dog insanity because a bite and a bad jury could send you to jail for life, and then in reaction to that tradgedy lethal injection.

New study showing Texas dead-last in sexual orientation discrimination compliance
The common law doctrine of "employment at will" has been around for a long time. Sure, there are specific government protections, but the whole thrust of law in the area of hiring and firing is one of "hands off" - an employer should be able to hire or fire anybody whenever it wanted and for whatever reason. Private businesses have to voluntarily adopt policies of nondiscrimination. The best way to sum up employment law is that a worker can be fired for any reason other than a federally prohibited reason.
Although Congress has outlawed discrimination on the basis of "race, color, religion, sex, or national origin", it has not yet seen fit to include "sexual orientation". A handful of states (Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, NJ, and Wisconsin) and cities (NY, LA, Chicago) have, however, outlawed discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or "affectional preference". Employees who get fired on account of health reasons (AIDS or HIV) have to file disability discrimination suits.Gay and lesbian employees are presently unable to have their "partners" covered under group health insurance plans or other employee benefits. The real issue here is that the only way anybody can acquire affordable health insurance is through an employer. Every one of us will lose our health coverage as soon as we are too ill to work. How totally asinine of system is that.
Gays and lesbians are not a protected class of people. Federal guidelines prohibit employment discrimination on the supposed characteristics of an entire class of people. Hence, federal supervisors must determine, on an individual basis, if the person would bring contempt to public service, manifest behavior that affects job fitness, or imply possible embarrassment to the government. During the cold-war McCarthy era (1943-1953), at least 1,700 federal workers were fired for allegations of homosexuality. All branches of the military allege that homosexuality is incompatible with military service, and estimates are that about 100 soldiers are discharged every year from the military for homosexuality. The FBI and CIA claim to treat each case individually, but usually deny homosexuals from jobs on the basis of national security. In addition, about 3 million people in America hold various security clearances of one sort or another. No gays or lesbians hold the most top secret (SCI) clearances. Gay applicants are subjected to excessive background checks, and the presumption is that they are a security risk through "indirect blackmail" - via their friends and lovers. -

Oak Point council votes to retain city's "English-only" resolution
What do you mean TxCutie. You convinced me. I listed all your facts and arguments read them with an open mind. It is flawless and transparent. Anybody can understand why you feel the way you do after reading these quotes.
All of your arguments begin with with a bullet.
You started with
- "we should not have to cater to other cultures. "
See I had never thought about catering to other cultures. We have so many cultures right here in the USA already. I do not know how we could add another culture. Just white people alone. Ku Klux Klan. The baptists, and mormons. The head bangers. Motorcycle clubs. Southerners, Texans, Californians. Military Cultures. Yankees, Corporate cultures. We should just pick the one American culture and stick to it.
- "they are more than welcome to go back to their native country where their language is spoken." This put me over the top.
This logic is indisputable and so familiar. I am willing to chip in and put them all in a boat and send them half way back to the country where their language is spoken.
I bet your family was originally from Texas?
- "they come here illegally and expect a handout and don't even have the gracious courtesy to even learn the language."
I did not know about the hand outs. I thought they were coming here for work and because they love thier families and want them to live.This made me hate them too. I see why you want to use language to keep them out of the country until they learn english.
-
"I will guarantee you that if you immigrated to another country such as China per say, the Chinese government would not change documents to accommodate your needs. They would expect you to learn their language."
You are so right we should get them back for this. But leave the Chineses out of it. They have changed all of thier documents to suit us. That Olympic thing coming up you know.
-
"Government agencies do not need to be burdened with changing documents for one race"
I originally thought this was about language not race. Once you straightened me out, I realized that I only like my own race. What race are you? I am not 100% sure what race I am. Under white man's law I am a quarter polish, a quarter German and half Indian. My mother is Indian. Under my native american religion if your mother is Indian you are 100% indian. You see why I have a hard time making up my mind. Should I believe my mother or the government? Please advise me.
All in all, not liking other races is a good reason to make it hard for them to understand what is going on. They might take over.
So with all of the good logical and astoundingly truthful reasons that you gave, how could anybody come to any conclusion other than to agree with you.
You are a genius, very persuasive and so transparent we can see right to your soul.

Oak Point council votes to retain city's "English-only" resolution
Even people that only come here on vacation should have to pass a fluency test before getting a Visa. We should turn down the foreign investment that makes up 28% of all investment in the United States unless they speak English. Not that Irish or Scottish English either. Those people from most of Great Brittain are not understandible. It was easy for TXCutie to learn English. Her spanish is pretty bad, but as long as she does not leave north Texas she should be fine.
Look at how France and Italy disappeared right after they opened up their borders to anybody that was a citzen in Europe even if they spoke English. They and thier culture are gone forever, except for a small pocket of them in Louisiana that have managed to hang on to thier cuisine and culture in the Lafayette zoo.
Thank god Darfur got English in time to save themselves. I don't want those stinking English over here either teaching our kids colour for color.
Not that I am a bigot. I love all people who speak english unless they do it strangely like Yankees. Man I hate Yankees especially if they can speak spanish.
I love TXCutie. I met her over at the first self righteous church in Greenville Texas where they still have the blackest land and whitest people.
