hmmm, don't know what area it is looking at. and alt-prnt-screen doesn't seem to be working. but imagine the drink map page, with the map part just gray (no map, and no drinks)

Pearl at Commerce
Special Bulletin
Current and former members of the US armed forces receive one free house 'fresco' margarita tonight at Pearl. It's the least we can do. Thank you for your service.

yeh I figured as much and I only noticed it because the company I work for during the day protects me from dangerous web domains, which includes texasgigs.com but not pegasusnews.com :-)
(and I'm going to be really pissed if dfw.wiredlocal.com turns out to be dangerous) -

All good... except that WiredLocal does sound like some kind of Wired.com spawn... I think "the peg" (as I will always affectionately refer to this site) is a great online "community". Even if some people whine a lot :-) Keep up the good work!
ps. re: links, there are still some texasgigs.com links lurking around here too...

Woman loses dog; family who she thinks adopted dog at shelter won't let her visit to see if it is hers.
I can't imagine why they wouldn't at least try to make sure they didn't have the lady's dog. Not to mention, she made them a nice offer.... a$$holes.

Realities and misconceptions about Downtown Dallas
I wondered (when I read the proposed streetcar route) why they didn't extend it all the way down thru deep ellum to hall or even exposition. I think that would help deep ellum a lot. Another thing they could do is have a 'local' bus, like the sobe local in south beach, that just loops down commerce to exposition and then back up elm to lamar and then back over to commerce. (or, if you don't like that loop, pick a different one... ) Average round trip around 15 mins (which means average wait for the bus to get to your corner, no more than 15 mins..... ) and only cost 25 cents!

Lil Ed and The Blues Imperials
Early Weeknight Show - 8pm! Lil' Ed Williams, although small in stature, is a true giant of the blues, and among the very last authentic West Side Chicago bluesmen. Lil’ Ed boasts a direct bloodline to blues history — his uncle and musical mentor was the great Chicago slide guitarist and recording artist J.B. Hutto. According to The Chicago Tribune, “Williams represents one of the few remaining authentic links to the raucous but pure Chicago blues.” The Associated Press agreed, stating, “Williams fills Chicago’s biggest shoes with more life and heat than anyone on stage today.” Between the band's untamed music, and Ed's flying leaps, backbending, and toe-walking through the audience, it's no wonder the Boston Globe calls Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials "the world's #1 house rockin' band".

Rick Estrin and The Nightcats
World-class Blues Show!
For more than 30 years and 9 albums, harmonica master/vocalist/songwriter Rick Estrin fronted the jumping, swinging Little Charlie And The The Nightcats, featuring guitarist Little Charlie Baty. With Baty’s recent retirement from touring, Estrin—along with theNightcats’ longtime rhythm section of J. Hansen and Lorenzo Farrell and a new member, fiery guitarist Kid Andersen—takes the lead on his own.
Rick Estrin ranks among the very best harp players, singers and songwriters in the blues world today. His work on the reeds is deep in the tradition of harmonica masters Sonny Boy Williamson II and Little Walter Jacobs, while at the same time pushing that tradition forward. The Associated Press called his harp playing, "endlessly impressive." The great guitarist Robert Lockwood, Jr. (who was schooled by Robert Johnson and who played on most of Little Walter's Chess recordings) told Estrin, "Little Walter would be very proud of you."
In addition to his harmonica and vocal skills, Rick Estrin is a songwriter of unparalleled talent. Critics have compared him to Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan and Willie Dixon. Blues Revue declared, "Estrin has created some of the finest blues songs of any artist on the planet. His carefully wrought lyrics penetrate human weakness with the precision of a boxer, though more often than not, he chooses to leave you laughing after the blow's been struck."
Besides Estrin's songwriting and musical skills, he is among the most entertaining and colorful showmen around. His quick wit and his signature look -- coifed hair, pencil-thin mustache and sharp attire - add even more color to his performances. "People don't go out to see people who look like themselves," says Rick. "They want to see something special. I was schooled in this business to be a showman, and that's what you get when you come to see me perform."

Deep Ellum looks to return to former glory
"I would like to see someone open up a laundromat/drycleaners or a little bodega that cooked breakfast sandwiches and had groceries."
GREAT ideas Michael!
"Also, I hope that the DART green line will run later into the night at some point." Absolutely necessary to support the nightlife...

mmmm, well I guess I didn't realize that what we were trying to do here is "generate an inviting, positive buzz." I thought we were just talkin' :-) and then some people got their panties in a wad....
And no I don't think anyone's opinion "doesn't count", but I do wonder why so many non-stakeholders (i.e. people who don't live or work or own businesses in or even visit deep ellum) are the ones who get upset and can't have an honest discourse about what's going on there and what they would like to see going on there. :-) Some of us have a past, a somewhat limited present, and maybe a future there :-)

I'm lost in this new layout. :_( Someone hold me.
Yeah, that ain't right, lessn' the rapture came three years early. We're on it.
