Keller man shoots neighbor in fight over dog, bullet also hits man's wife

TG. Reread the story. It was the man who was shot that was having the fantasy football party. And, it was the wife of the shooter who also got shot.

    What? No Cap'n Crunch???

TG, are you responsible for this grave omission?

Arlington p.o.'ed that American Idol says Cowboys Stadium is in Dallas

As Captain Renault from Casablanca would say: "I'm shocked, shocked that the Cowboys would be identified with Dallas and not with Arlington!". I would hope that the Arlington voters knew this was part of the deal when they voted on it.

NTTA responds to toll jumpers story

From my past experience, they will only add the $25 charge if you have been billed at the $1 rate and ignored it.

Also, in my experience, they have been pretty lenient about waiving the administrative fees (then again I owed only $25).

Yet-another story on the prospects of Dallas' Deep Ellum, this one sortof optimistic

Rick, I understand that DART needs to get its act together to get the Fair Park line open, but what would you suggest they could do to help Downtown? Run trains until 2 or 2:30? I'm curious since I'm about to become a new resident of Downtown.

African-Americans now account for half of new HIV/AIDS cases in Dallas County

"Woman have suffered unwanted pregnances and the effects of STDs all because some guy didn't give a care to be responsible for the birthcontrol or BE TESTED TO SEE IF HE WAS A CARRIER OF SOME DISEASE."

In the absence of a responsible guy, shouldn't the woman then be responsible for making sure she doesn't have sex with an irresponsible man?

Jason, I went to that Yahoo link, and it looks like a "Douglas S." had quite a lot of nice things to say about his...errr..the dealership today in the review section. Especially the management.

Is it time for a tent city in Dallas?

Rick, I would also add that after blathering on about "liberal guilt", Clay goes on to laud the great projects of the WPA, an organization created by presidential order of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, one of the most "reviled" (by conservatives) liberals in history.

First games at new Cowboys Stadium will be CONCACAF Gold Cup Quarterfinals (soccer, *gasp*)

"During a press conference Monday morning, Blazer was questioned as to why CONCACAF would choose the forthcoming Cowboys Stadium over other such venues as the FC Dallas stadium at Pizza Hut Park and the Cotton Bowl, which hosted games in 1993."

This has to be one of the dumbest questions I've ever heard asked at a press conference. And, that's saying a lot.

Great news...and Travis, no doubt, when the US gets its next World Cup, the new stadium will be a venue.

Dallas NAACP calling for protest of KDFW-TV, Fox Corporation over monkey cartoon

I was addressing the use of the overused phrase "playing the Race Card". This canard is always stated whenever anyone points out a perceived act of racism whether it is valid or not. The quote I was addressing seemed to imply that racism no longer exists due to the recent election, or at the very least anyone pointing out what they believe to be racism should be ignored.

And, jtmbls, when did I ever say that I felt my civil liberties were being threatened? I don't believe they are. But, I do know when an entire race's civil liberties were not only threatened but taken away, during a time when such images as this dehumanized a people, making it easy to take those liberties away:

    http://i42.tinypic.com/sce6u9.jpg

These were used in mainstream culture, yet very few spoke out against them....maybe for fear of being accused of "Playing the Race Card"?

"Playing the Race Card no longer works. The election of Obama killed the game. Sorry.

This cartoon is no differnt than any other political cartoon ever published. End of story."

So black face and Stepin'Fetchit and Little Black Sambo, etc. can come back into the accepted mainstream, because "the election of Obama killed the game".

    Right.

Bizarre Texas House resolution calls for repeal of thousands of federal laws

Pizzagod...yes it is frivolous legislation because it does nothing. Until these legislators actually start refusing all federal funding (and I mean not accepting one single dime), any talk of sovereignty is just that....talk with no principles or guts behind it.

Let the Legislators not accept one dime of federal highway money, scholarship money (including Pell grants, government loans for students), etc....then I'll think of them as more than politicians throwing out empty declarations to unthinking masses.

Dallas has a mayor and city council that shows leadership

    Michael,

Why has a private hotel company never seen the benefit of building such a hotel as the city is planning to build? If the opportunity is so great, why has no one done it? And, don't blame today's economy, because this "opportunity" has been around for years.

New respect for A-Rod for admitting steroid use, less respect for Major League Baseball and Bud Selig

    "New respect"?!?

For someone who flat out lied to the public concerning the same issue 2 years ago.

For someone who today admitted to violating the MLB Drug Policy (which has had steroids as a banned substance since 1991)?

For someone who "addresses the situation head on"....after his drug test result blows up into a national story?

    "New respect"?

Your respect comes at a low price.
