Former Green Room chef opens gourmet taqueria inside the Green Spot in East Dallas
I used to work with both of them over at The Green Room. I made the Desserts and loved working with both of them, it was a most wonderful first job for a college student. I will have to stop by and see them and of course try the food.

UPDATED: Swirll Winery in downtown Dallas closing on December 20
Dallas will lose most of its first time stores in its effort to rebuild Downtown its natural. Downtown will continue to try to hold what it can on the graces of passionate business individuals. Downtown is going through its awakening phases and not every business will survive the developing retail climate. One question we might ask have they remained flexible with their hours? Things have changed over the years in Downtown and some business models that worked when nothing was down there don't anymore. It requires you as a business person to adapt and be ready to alter your concept if the weather changes. I thank them for their efforts in Downtown they will be missed but lets not see this as some Canary in a Mine shaft cause there is much to look forward to and happening in Downtown Dallas.

Eleven things I learned at the 2008 State Fair of Texas
Hmm, let me confirm some of your points...
DART sucks when it comes to the State Fair transportation. That weekend only shuttle thing has never made since to me cause I would most likely use it during the week and drive myself on the weekend.
Personally its a family tradition that we go on opening day cause its clean and everyone is ready to start the fair but nobody goes the first day cause everybody assumes its busy the first day so we clean up so to speak.
I saw the Rock Band thing too and yes I was ready to take the mic away from the girl ruining a song by The Who and show my geekitude to even the common fair goer.
There is also another place that in the past served 6 ticket beers but now serves 7 ticket beers in the food court. Gas prices or was their bank WAMU?
The parade since they brought it back 4 years ago has always been a one sponsorship thing. The First two years Blockbuster, after that Kitchen Craft took over. It really makes the parade a snore cause all that happens is the Fair people pay a company to make some floats and slap a logo on all of them. I guess since the parade happens daily much more might be too hard to mix it up.
Fair Park makes me giddy every time I enjoy it and notice I say Fair Park not just the once a year State Fair. The sculpture, murals, architecture are gorgeous and are a more lively beautiful history book than any textbook. I recommend the 15.00 history book sold with the other souvenir T-shirts and the like. It tells the long detailed story how Fair Park has changed since its origins as a Victorian exposition hall and local park. At one time the Fair proposed to build a super-tall observation tower but the city council turned it down. Now we have to wait till 2010 for the observation tower being planned right now.
DARTs never had a good way to tell you how to get anywhere using their buses, another reason why people don't use them here in Dallas. People like the DART trains cause at least they know when they can get off and the exact route its going.
I can not wait till the Fair Park Green line station opens so I can go when the Fair is not there. That way I can look at more of Fair Parks details more closely without the influence of fried foods and a ten dollar parking charge.

Downtown Dallas websites are lacking internet savvy
Thanks for all your above comments and for your reading pleasure the VP of Marketing at Downtown Dallas has responded over at my blog http://williamedia.com/blog with this comment:
"William,
Just a note to let your readers know that we are actually in the midst of a complete makeover of downtowndallas.org/downtowndallas.com. We began the process last spring, and the new site is set to launch at the end of this month. It will be the “business” sister site to yourDspot.com, with extensive market data, updated demos and up to the minute development information - all with a much more updated look. Hope you enjoy.
