You're right, jnoel - that's my fault. I've amended the headline to more accurately reflect the content. Thanks for the copy edit.

Fifty Shades of Grey mania inspires Dallas-Fort Worth area women
Actually, it started off as Twilight fan fiction, so there's a possibility it could be.

Movie review: Savages
Man, you have a thing against Salma Hayek - you didn't like that she was in The Pirates, either. She wasn't top of my list in this one, but she didn't hurt the movie by any means.

Furr's Fresh Buffet to open in Plano on Wednesday
Tried it for the first time on Sunday - packed as usual, although our wait was nothing like it was when we left, when the line was starting to wrap around the building. Part of the reason for the line is the semi-odd set-up where you pay first, then wait to be seated, then get your food. But it actually went pretty smoothly, and having them seat you instead of jockeying for a table amongst the masses is a plus.
Around 7-8 different stations where you could pick and choose at your leisure, which is better than the old cafeteria line system. "Fresh" seems to imply healthier, but it's still pretty much the standard homestyle fare you'd expect, so don't think they're skimping on the calories. They did have a cook-to-order section for steaks and such, but unless you're really craving it, it seems pointless to wait in another line when you can just grab other good food without little to no effort.
Not gonna be an every week trip, but I'd definitely go back.

Jason, not quite sure I understand your comment - are you saying there were only eight cars in the parking lot?

Ha, too true, John. But I've been highly anticipating it, too, so I would be far from surprised if there was broader audience than just retirees.

Heads up: Josh Hamilton's bat may fly into ballpark stands
NBC's headline vastly underestimates the number of bats he's thrown this year - a couple games ago, he did it twice in one at-bat. I'd say the number is at least 30, if not more.

Unlike another eatery just up the road (cough, In-N-Out, cough), Furr's was absolutely packed on opening day - the parking lot was full at 4 p.m. when I passed by.

New Shiner beer, Prickly Pear, on the market in limited supply
Final report - unless you're looking for it specifically in a six-pack, Prickly Pear seems to be pretty much everywhere. Saw it in a 24 pack at Costco and a 12 pack at Tom Thumb (at a lower price than Walmart - gah!). Both Costco and Tom Thumb are priced at less than a dollar per beer right now, so they're definitely the best deals.

Ha, ha, TLS - the first comment was merely to report its existence. After taking care of my parental duties, I indulged in my hard-earned beer - well worth it. BTW, with the 12 packs - and, I'm assuming, the 24 packs, there's no wondering if it contains Prickly Pear or not - it's clearly labeled on top of the package.
