Concert preview: Mastodon and Deathlok at the House of Blues (November 11)
No mention of Converge!? Criminal. They just put out a great record and are worth seeing as much as Mastodon and High on Fire. I'd rather see them than Dethlock. This is a great show, wish I wasn't out of town.

Show alert: The Zeros
Not bad. It actually reminds me of the Nerves more than the Plimsouls. If I was in town I'd check it out.

93.3 FM playing the old format switcheroo
You aren't getting crap like beck and limbaugh. You are getting beyonce and justin. Slightly better crap. Deal with it.

Quality Rock 93.3 FM is apparently re-formatting on Friday, September 4
Fortunately for us sane people, Rush Limbaugh isn't going to 93.3. Cumulus already owns a conservative talk station in this market, KLIF.

Ex-Sorta bassist Danny Balis releases solo debut CD on Tuesday
I've heard this disc a few times and it's surprising. I figured it would be a bit more alt country but it's straight up old school country. The steel guitar is killer and it's a solid CD.

The Melvins
Gahhh!! I totally did not know this show was happening until just now. Grr.

Hector's On Henderson
Takedown. It's always slightly disingenuous when that happens. Interestingly, I JUST ate at Hector's a couple of weeks ago. While the food was good I'm not sure it was worth what I paid for it. And seeing the shill review kind of makes me not want to go back.

This is the kind of crap that makes this site harder and harder to visit. You know, I love Peg and some of the people that work there, but this concept of "we'll pretty much run anything that a content partner submits" gets kind of old.
My problem isn't even so much that this is blatant one sided political garbage, but that it's a poorly written opinion piece that serves little purpose other than to incite and rile. If I wanted to read nonsense like this I'd just go to the original blog it was written on.
My second problem is that every one of this guy's posts devolves into a total bitchfest in the comments section with him just continuing to antagonize. Most writers don't waste their time arguing with their readers.

Dudes. It's ok to be a music snob. I've come to terms with it.

Hard Truth Soldiers Tour not coming to Dallas yet
I guess I got confused cause the official website says "Revised Dates To Be Announced".

I guess the question is whether or not there will be a Dallas date and will Talib be on it.

But will they have tacos that aren't overpriced? THAT is the question.

That's my hope. Pearl Jam usually works in other dates if they are coming to this part of the country so I'm hoping for that.

ACL didn't use to be this expensive. Last time I went I think tix were $95 which was reasonable given the volume of bands. $185 is absurd with that lineup, especially with ACL's penchant for hippie bands.

Bills filed for the 81st legislative session (part one)
"Expense ratio".
AKA a big bucket to hide/spend a whole lot of our money. Just like 12b-1 fees except those are actually disclosed if you look deep enough.
Just cause they say it cost them x million in expenses each year doesn't mean it's justifiable. Much of those "expenses" are spent on lobbying, advertising, big bonuses, more lobbying, etc.
You may like paying some of the highest premiums in the nation. I don't. Nor do a lot of other people. Hence, Mr. Vaught's efforts.
