Il Cane Rosso in Deep Ellum is doing Saturday brunch
We loved loved LOVED our brunch on Saturday. I feel disloyal to my mama saying this, but I'm pretty sure Il Cane Rosso has the best biscuits and gravy ever.

Irving artist wins international award for her mosaic art
Congrats, Julie, from a fellow Crusader (if you read this, even)... Coincidentally I was just looking at your work a few weeks ago via Laura Larsen's Facebook photos.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

Cereal Bar opens in The Colony
If this place could resurrect the last, great C.W. Post cereal, I'd consider driving to The Colony. How I miss C.W. Post.

Dallas real estate entrepreneur Trammell Crow died on Wednesday
I worked for Trammell Crow Company twice and both experiences was marvelous. I never knew until my first TCC experience how positive a work environment could be. I felt as though I was working with family, and when I was laid off, I truly felt grief. That kind of company culture has become rare, but I am forever grateful that I got to know it twice with TCC... and again with my current job.
At TCC, the integrity and kindness came from the top and will be with me always.
Thank you, Mr. Crow.

Autumn foliage in Dallas' Old Lake Highlands neighborhood: 2008
I took this shot a few weeks ago while driving south on Buckner from Garland Road, quite near John's location.
These three trees (a tree-o?) take my breath away every year.
(I hope my embedding works!)

Ask the Troup: Lee Park Massacre edition
it lasted for around 9 months and created the present law's we have today in our Pubic Parks, while protest is a Amercian virtue and it should be respect as that....
It sounds as though Lee Park was a Pubic Park indeed.
Thank you for the history lesson, Alexander!

I'm voting this evening, Mike. I love the energy of Election Day.

Dallas-Fort Worth residents hunker down for Election Night activities
I think I would be awfully lonely at Gilley's tonight. I meant to say Bishop Arts for the Dallas County Democratic Party -- but had a flashback to the primaries as I replied to Teresa.
(Um, yeaaahhh.... as a concierge, I'm supposed to be a person who knows what's going on around town. Sheesh.)

New product Wednesday, at Dallas-area stores: Doritos Taco flavor
I was a huge fan of C.W. Post cereal, T.G., thought I did love Team and Rice Chex, too.
Sadly, C.W. Post was discontinued in 1992 or so.

Anyone's welcome to join, for that matter.
All hail CFB!

Stephan Pyles to open new tapas restaurant in downtown Dallas
I used to work for the building management at 2100 Ross, and my bet is that Samar will not push out La Madeleine on the south/San Jacinto side, for anyone who's wondering.
I remember seeing the renderings for an indoor/outdoor restaurant on the north side of the building, parallel to Ross. The current management office will relocate elsewhere in the building.
I am so pleased to see this come to fruition!

Theater Review: Mary's Wedding
I saw this Saturday, 19 July, and was completely swept up. Lisa Devine's direction was impeccable, and Julie and Matt Savins absolutely breathed their characters.
This is a tremendously poignant and personal vision of love and war -- and love interrupted by war.
Don't miss it.

La Condesa Mexican restaurant now open in Dallas' Victory Park
Um, didn't Victory Park actually already have Mexican food covered with the presence of Luna de Noche? I believe LdN has been in operation at Victory since last summer.
I'm a fan of the original La Condesa since they deliver to The Grapevine.

Awesome developer building new affordable townhome complex in north Oak Cliff
Bennett Miller is a local treasure.
After my initial introduction to Bennett as a tenant, I worked for him as his property manager. I admire him to this day and he deserves all the recent accolades and more. He is honorable, practical, and visionary.
I wish Dallas had a hundred Bennetts! Our city would be far more liveable and affordable.
